History Of Lego Architecture

Published on januar 15, 2017

There has always been a connection between Lego blocks and architecture world. Lego fans became interested in the forms and functions they have created and, at the same time, many architects discovered that Lego blocks are a perfect way to express their creative ideas.

This connection became realised in the early 1960s with the launch of new Lego »Scale Model« line. These sets were designed to be different from the normal and they also inspired its users with a book on architecture.

Decades later, architect and Lego fan Adam Reed Tucker revived this idea of expressing architecture using Lego blocks and in partnership with the Lego Group, launched the new Lego Architecture line as we know today.

His first models and the original sets were interpretations of famous skyscrapers from his hometown of Chicago. By now a Lego Architecture line has developed and evolved with well-known buildings from other cities in the USA, iconic structures in Europe, the Middle-East and Asia.
